THE MANDI HOUSE, New Rendezvous st, New Art City
Mandi is a fever dream, a throwback and a throw-up of the undead maximalism of 90s affluence. In my collaboration with Claire Breach we have constructed a narrative of a whimsical creature who has a rebellious spirit and refuses to give up her vivid, childlike imagination.
Through staged photoshoots and exercises in narrative storytelling and collage, we have been stitching together the story of Mandi, who we believe is the bad conscience of of our generation, the voice of unreason; born in the 90s, consuming haunted 70s media, with a postmodernist approach to life that looks at everything sideways.
As part of New Rendezvous St online exhibition we created THE MANDI HOUSE, in which we have framed Mandi as a brand, consumed by the inhabitants of the house, Sindy and Shlorp.
